Luke's exciting weekend

I want to tell you about something exciting that I did recently.
My dad and I went to the Rugby World Cup 7's that was held in Dubai this year.
We sat in the family stand. There was a festive atmosphere and alot of loud music.
Some people were dressed up in funny outfits but my dad said his favourite part was the Aggreko Dynamos.

I bought a rugby ball and got a lot of the top players to sign it.

Adam's Cricket report

HI, Recently, Kings' played there 2nd cricket game this year and won by 8 runs!
We played against Jess Ranches Year 6 team at their school
We won the toss and elected to field first. It was a good decision and we soon got plenty
of wickets. Our fielding was very good and we only made 1 or 2 mistakes. Then
we all batted fantasticly and lost very few wickets which meant we won!

Good look cricket team in our next match

Lucy's cinema review

On Thursday 12 March I went to see Hotel for Dogs with Jemima at Mercato.
A brother and sister are looking for somewhere to hide their dog, when they come across a deserted hotel, which already has 2 dogs living in it.
This is where the adventure begins when they start to rescue more and more dogs from around the city. They invent cool gadgets for looking after the dogs when they're not there. Disaster strikes when the dogs are discovered.
It was a very good film. I liked it because it was funny and was adventurous with lots of excitement, laughter and suspense.
I think this film would be enjoyed by most people.

Ashleigh on Picasso

hey guys,

I found a great website, it is about making a Picasso head by your-self. hope you go on, go to http://www.mrpicassohead.com/. if you want a example go to www.mrpicassohead.com/canvas.html?id=fabaca8e&skin=original. i think this will be good for art weeks when a class has Picasso as their artist.

Eloise's report on her uncle's new dogs

Uncle Dennis's new dogs by Eloise

Over the weekend my uncle Dennis sent me an email saying his labrador dog polly had
just had 5 puppies!! They were so cute!! He asked me to call him to help with the names he had sent me the picture so I knew what they looked like there was one really bigger and fatter one than the rest so I thought of name Dumbledor. Later on in the week-end my Uncle called saying that the three puppies were called Dumbledor (boy), Brownie (girl), Rocky(boy), Pepper (girl) and Pheobe (girl). Gussy is the dad and im sure hes very proud! My aunty Jenny said the only problem she was having with them is toilet training!!
Cant wait till summer break to see them!!

Christopher's camping adventure

Hi everybody!

Last weekend (20/03/09 -21/03/09) my family, Tom (who came with us) and a convoy of 3 other cars went camping in the desert! We spent ages trying to find a good place to camp. We were really lucky to find a crater with a huge dune EAST of us, in which direction the wind was blowing.

When we stopped at the end of the road leading into the desert to deflate our tires, we went exploring. It didn’t take long before I found a carcass of a camel! I called the others over. Luckily, someone had some carrier bags, so I took some bones (which didn’t have any skin on!) and took it with me!

We didn’t want to do that much dune bashing because we had LOADS of booze and other glass bottles and we didn’t want them to smash!
Also, it was already quite late, about 5 in the afternoon, and we wanted to camp way before dark.

We settled down and all the kids went off to pull branches off trees for the big bonfire! Tom and I accidentally pulled up a couple of ants nests while removing whole dead trees!!!!

Once the fire was going, we had dinner. We had disposable BBQs. After a dinner of meat and couscous, MARSH MELLOWS!!!!!! We roasted about 20 each over the flames! Tom caught a cricket and skewed it onto his stick and roasted it over the flames!!!!!

After our bellies were full, we went to the top of a dune and played god all mighty, when you have to push people off the dune and if you win, you get to chose what god you want to be (I chose god of death!). We also played truth or dare! We were soon called to go to our tents, and get ready for bed. I couldn’t sleep because Tom kept steeling my sleeping bag in his sleep but I soon did!

The next day, all the kids started playing truth or dare but we soon got bored of that and made up a game called ambusher. We made two teams, and each ran off to hide. We had to ambush each other .It was GREAT fun! But as I was coming back for some water, I suddenly saw and picked up what was a JAWBONE! Then I found the other side of the jawbone and ran off to camp!

I then set off determined with a shovel to find the rest. When I got there I saw a skeleton! I found the head and took it back to camp! I fixed the snapped jawbone onto the skull and, IT FITTED!!!
Everyone took some bits; hips, spine, arms, legs and loads of other bits and bobs back to the camp.

The adults had packed the tents away. They were so happy of my discovery but they said we can’t take it all. I got some bits such as the hips, the head, a goat vertebrae, a camel vertebrae and some leg bones (one which we gave to chewy, our dog).

When we were leaving, we passed 2 carcases, maybe cows? and a dead donkey which had died recently because it was still covered in skin and body parts!!!

Rose's Weekend report

On Thursday 19th March Kings swim squad went to Jebal school to do a swim gala against
wellington,Horizon and Jebal Ali.We were losing be atleast 10 points but when we did our
class relay we won and we got double pionts so in the end we won by 6 points. The B team
came second and the A team came first. We were delighted that we won.

On Friday 20th March Kristi and I went to our Desert Swim Gala at Kings' Dubai pool. I
did every stroke and got a gold for 4 lengths free style, a gold for 2 lengths backstroke, a gold
for 1 length butterfly, a bronze for 2 lengths breastroke and a gold for 4 lengths I.M which is
a length of butterfly the backstroke then breastroke and eventually 1 length of freestyle.

I was a bit shy when I went up to the stand and got my medals because it was my first desert swim gala!

I was very proud that I got a medal for every stroke and I was AMAZED with my butterfly time
which was eighteen seconds and 34 mini seconds!!!!!!!

I was one of the quickest people at butterfly!

I will keep you informed of what I do and I hope you enjoyed reading all about my weekend! :)

My Hamster by Zac

My hamster is a year old and his name is Ben.

His favouite food is sunflower seeds and carrots. Ben is very active and sneeky. He sleeps all day (unless we wake him up) and plays all night. When he runs on his wheel really fast the wheel begins to squeak.

We have two cages (because are other hamster died a month ago).
Ben lives in the biggest cage. He dosen't live in the small cage because he can get out by pushing open the hatch on the cage door.

I think Ben is the besthamster in the world because he can do cool stuff.

I am on red belt at the momment but soon I will be going on to yellow belt!
The order of the coulor belts go like this,
White, then red, then yellow, then orange, then green, then blue and finally black!

Our class assembly song - SEED DISPERSAL

SEED DISPERSAL

Seed dispersal, seed dispersal gotta spread the seed gotta spread the seed
Seed dispersal, seed dispersal cos we feel the need, we feel the need

We’re the wind, we’re the wind and we shake the pepper pot,
Want to parachute or helicopter-we’ve got the lot.

We’re the water, we’re the water, we’re the rivers and the seas,
When the rain is raining hardest that’s when we’re set free.

We’re the animals, the animals, I tell you while we’re young
We can carry seeds or store them, most of all we just make -

Seed dispersal, seed dispersal gotta spread the seed gotta spread the seed
Seed dispersal, seed dispersal cos we feel the need, we feel the need

There’s one more way and it should be ‘knowed’
The seeds get dispersed when the plants explode

BANG (ARGH) – 2 – 3 – 4 –

All three parts at the same time twice through

Seed dispersal, seed dispersal gotta spread the seed gotta spread the seed
Seed dispersal, seed dispersal cos we feel the need, we feel the need

THE SEED - a poem to learn!!!

Lauren found this brilliant poem by Aileen Fisher. We are using it in our class assembly - make sure you know it really well!

How does it know,
this little seed
if it is to grow
to a flower or weed,
if it is to be
a vine or shoot,
or grow into a tree
with along deep root?
A seed is so small
where do you suppose
it stores up all
of the things it knows?

Becky's swimming gala report

HERES A POST ABOUT THE swimming gala on thursday,

On thursday 5th MarchKings' had a swimming gala against D.E.S.S AND JAPS(Jebel Ali Primary School).

This time the gala went differently because each school had an A and a B team. The A team had the slightly better swimmers in it and the B slightly less fast, good.

At first Kings were winning but when Mrs Watson announced the winners Dess A team AND B team came first! Kings' came second for the A and B team and JAPS came third for the A and B team.

We have another gala on the 17th march so we'll see how that goes!

Jam Jar

Thanks to the children and parent's of 5JW Mr Watson had a great time painting at Jam Jar.

I went to Jam Jar on Saturday, Feb 28th and enjoyed my painting session lots. Thanks for the lovely gift.

The paint was fantastic to mix up - a really glossy, thick and gloopy feel. I decide to just paint two connected themed canvasses in similar colours. I tried to use different shades and also various textures.

I enjoyed listening to my IPOD as I was painting.

What do you think of my first ever canvas painting?

The funniest part was when I was washing up at the end of my session and I looked in the mirror - my ears were blue and purple, where I had been taking my headphones in and out!!!

Kian's a swimming star!

Congratulations To Kian!
Kian performed superbly as his speedo swimming gala.
On the Thursday 26th Tursday and Friday 27th of Febuary I did a Speedo gala(Club Championships.) First of all you had to pass the trials they pick the 12 fastest swimmers for each stroke, and I got into all 5 of the races. Then it was the challenge the club championships,on thursday it was the IM.The IM is when you have to do all 4 of the strokes, the order is butterfly, back stroke, breste stroke and finally front crawl. It was really tense when you got on to the starting block. Finally the wistle blow and we dived of the block.I was doing really well until back stroke when I choked I had to get out but then went and finished it off.It was a misrable day for me and I was dreding for the next day.

Friday

When I got to the pool I was really scared, the first race was butterfly I came second. After that I was really confedont. The second race was back stroke and I came third but it was still good to get a medel.Breste stroke was the next stroke and I came first I was really proud of my self. The last stroke was front crawl it was a great race but I came second.

It was a grat day
