• Holiday journal – keep a journal about holiday – a day out or a vacation. Use descriptive language, illustrations and photographs to enhance your entry.Continue reading and practice spellings

5JW Class Rules

In 5JW we have agreed the following rules:

· We will try our best

· We will listen attentively to others

· We will always be kind to others

· We will respect other people’s property

· We will put our hands up to answer & ask questions

· We will ask for help when we need it

If we do this we will have fun and enjoy our learning in 5JW.

Rules for our Blog

We've now all started using our class blog. Feedback so far has been very positive. A few weeks of term have already gone and the blog is growing and growing. Well done to all those people who have been reading and commenting so far. Keep it up!

There are a few rules for us all to think about and remember:

• We will only use our first name to sign poss and comments.
• We will not write about personal details, such as address or phone numbers.
• We will be as positive as possible when commenting about other people’s work, opinions and ideas
• We will always read our work carefully before 'posting' - checking for simple spelling and grammatical mistakes. if possible we will get someone else to read it before we hit the publish button!
• We will write about subjects linked to the work we are doing in Year 5 and at Kings' Dubai and things that interest us

Remember you can comment on anything on the blog you like. Please use your first name. The more comments the better. Make them positive and meaningful. Enocurage your friends and family to the same.

If you want to write your own 'post' you will have opportunity to do so in school. In addition you if you want to write a post at home, then you can either write on paper and use time in school to 'post' it on the blog or the best option is to email Mr Watson your ideas and he can post it for you. House Teams!

We have four house teams at Kings': Hanover (Green); Tudor (Red); Stuart (Blue) ; Winsdor (Yellow).

We have team stars on the wall in class, and when we do something well we put our names on. Each week in class a coin is awarded to the team that has performed the best and has the most names on it. These coins are added to our termly 'coin cup' for the whole school. We are also having an in class competition to see which teams get the most coins throughout the year.

Who helps us?

Mrs Hislop is our Teaching Assistant. She works in year 5 in both our class and Mr O'Neill's class. She helps keep Mr Watson organised and sane! She is a great member of our class and team. Mrs Hislop always has time for everybody and really enjoys reading with us.
