Matthew on Kalba

Kalba was the best school trip ever! We did loads of fun activities including sandboarding, traverse, rock-climbing, canoeing and many more.

The activity I found most challenging was rock climbing. I felt really tense and exhausted as I was reaching the top, but then after about 3 minutes of pure climbing I was really tired so I just abseiled back down.

My favourite activities were canoeing, survival, traverse and sandboarding. In survival you were split into groups of 4 with 3 groups. You then had an option to ever build a shelter, make a fire or catch a fish from the lake. Unfortunately I caught a fish but it slipped off my hook. In traverse you pull yourself across a lake with only 2 ropes attached to you. I wasn't scared of falling, but I thought I was going to crash my head on the over side so I kept looking back every few seconds.

I hope I get to do something this awesome with a school again.

Adam it bowled over by the Kings Cricket team's performance!

Hi,

Today kings' cricket team headed off to Jess Ranches for there first cricket game of the season. Jess won the toss and elected to field first.

That meant we had to bat. Greg & I were up first. It was scary especially when I realised the ball was a hard one & was coming straight at me as we haven't played with one before, so they changed it.

Everyone really enjoyed themselves & we won the game by 26 runs.

Tom's football report

A month ago Kings' Dubai Y5 football team came 4th on FinalsDay.

We played verywell but we still lost. The first match against Dubai Royal school was1-1draw,we were 1-nil down with only 2 minutes to go then MatthewBaxter scoared a lovely goal at the bottom right corner.

The next match was 1-nil against JESS Jumaireh. We played very well in thatmatch but we sill didn't win.

I wish we had a second chance, but we didn't. That was my last chanceto play in the football team but it doesn't matter.Tom

Gold Book Luke's memories of the year 5 trip

I had an awesome experience at Kalba. I thought it was the best trip I have ever been on.

Sandboarding was my favourite activity. I loved it so much because I didn't fall over
except on the last go when I sat down and fell. I was quite happy because I went the
furthest of everybody.

I also enjoyed the canoeing because I got to steer at the back and the canoe tipped
over 3 or 4 times and I loved getting wet.

I have always liked abseiling because I like going down cliffs. This time I was quite scared.
I was first in my group and when I looked down there was a long drop which made me nervous.

The food on the trip was great but I have never had chicken burgers for breakfast !
It was really fun sleeping in the tent with my friends too.

Thank you Mr Watson and all the other staff who came for a great time !!

Luke

A message from Louis

I got this message from Louis and wnated to share it with you all. I have sent him a reply. I told him that we all miss him too!

Dear Mr Watson

I miss all of you so much. I wish I was there with you and how was Kalba? I have heard it was a blast!

Tell everyone in the class that I miss them so much. I had my sports day to day and our team won, we were the yellow team. But I like Kings Dubai''s sports day much much much much better than my new school which is called Doha Montessori Biritsh School.

Bye for now from Louis :-)

Sami's view of the Y5 trip

Hi

On Sunday we went on a trip to Hatta. I did the abseiling, which I think I did well at and I enjoyed it. Then we went to do survival. I made a fire with one match. My funniest moment was when my friend was singing a bread rap and another friend was singing a Mini-gine song.

Kirsten's tells us about her desert day

Our Desert Trip To Kalba

Our desert trip was amazing the most lovely trip I have ever been on.

I loved Kalba! It was so incredible. My best day at Kalba was the third day
because the activities on that day where Sand boarding, the spider web, the wall
of doom and other games.

My favourite activity was the sand boarding, it was so cool.

On the third day I saw a dog and its name was Rex, I took a few pic's of Rex and here's one of them.

From Kirsten

Alec's Kalba Highlights

Hi guys Alec here bloging about my Kalba trip highlights.

the highlights of the Kalba trip were:

  • me accidently destroying a water scorpions nest
    sliding down a rockface

  • capsizing in a kayaking every 2 seconds

  • Becky, Daniel and me purposely capsizing in a canoe

  • most of year 5 falling off sandboards

  • listening to Adam Bs and Chris' 'talent' in the talent show

But here is the only downside I can't get that annoying yo diggy dog song out of my head (That James Mansell wrote)

Yo diggy dog what's the price of bread X3
Yo diggy dog what's the price of bread at spinneys supermarket X2
Yo diggy dog the price of bread of bread is X3

Eloise thinks sandboarding is superb!

When we went to Kalba I enjoyed all of the activities.

One of my favourite ones was sand barding. If you were there you would remeber that we were split into tent groups and then desert animals. I was in the Gecko's with some other people.

When we were told to go to the sandboarding section everyonewas excited! There was a special method to get all 5 sandboards to the top of the dune. Each person would stand about 1 meter away from each other. A board would be passed up and thenthat person would swap places with the person in front of him. When it was my turn I was still deciding wether I should stand or sit. I choes stand. Carla talked me through if I was to fall I was to crunch up in a ball and lean backwards, she told me to put my weight on my back leg, then she pushed me and I was off. Just like that.

I had three turns I stood on the first then sat on the second and stood on the third.

Mrs Hislop took two photos of me and on both my tongue is sticking out.

Anyway Sandboarding was a great experience.
Eloise

Paul talks about our trip

Hi guys,

Just want to say I loved the trip and had some great fun with everyone. I really enjoyed the rock climbing and the all the activities at Kalba, Hatta and Al Awir. The camp was great fun, great food and I really enjoyed the breakfast!! The sand boarding was my favourite, even the mouthful of sand when I crashed!! Looking forward to the next trip. Paul

Rose's Rocking Trip

Our three day trip to Kalba Hatta and Al Awir
My favourite activities were the talent show and sand boarding!

Sand Boarding
My group was called the Falcons and we all had a laugh together playing and
helping eachother at things we had never done before.
I had never done sand boarding before so this was my first shot at it.
Every body encouraged me so I did the same thing to everyone else.
We had 3 turns each and On my first turn I sat down but then
I built up strength and stood up.On my last turn I was doing
great but then I leant to one side and I went rolling down and down!!!!!

Talent Show
We held the talent show straight after dinner on the second night in camp.
Lots of people made up an act and performed it infront of the hole of year
5jw and 5kon.I did an act with Eloise,Becky,Jemima,Lauren,Lucy and myself
doing the remix of the Dancing Queen by Abba.It started of with everyone
in ballet class streching when suddenly Jemima jumped in and started
singing, but that wasn't it everyone else who was in the group started doing crazy dance moves!!!!!!

It was a great trip and I thought it was a laugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Kristi's Krazy about Kalba

My favourite part of the term so far has been, KALBA!!!
I loved it so much I'd love to tell u all about it!
Day 1 we were up in the mountains doing:

Traverse (or Zip-Wire)
Rock climbing
Abseiling
and the Wadi Walk!

Day 3 we were around and about the camp doing:
The wall of DOOM!
The spiders web
The Great Escape (the pipe game)
and Non-stop cricket!

But Day 2 was my favourite day because:
First we went to lake kalba and got changed into our swimming cozies and then we hopped on the bus to do our first set of activities! Windsor were with Mr Watson (yesssssssssss!)
We went down to the beach to do team games with Nat & Ryan!
We played with the paracute, then we guided each other to find plastic balls!
Then we played Giants, Wizards and Elves which Mr Watson loved!
Last but no means least we played triange tag which was alot of fun!
We jumped back on the bus and arrived at our next activity:
CANOEING!!! with CHIPPY!!!!!
Canoeing was my favourite activity because I got Mr Watson absaloutly soaked!
He got me soaked too mind you!
But I kicked water at mr Watson,
so what does he do?
DUNKS ME IN THE LAKE!!!!!!!!
I will get revenge on you Mr Watson!!!!!
Ok back to my kalba Trip!!!!!
We all were absaloutly drenched!
But next we went to:
KAYAKING!!! with SHOCKY!!!!!!!!!!
Kayaking was really fun!
We got to get Mr Watson more soaked,
we capzied Shocky &
I almost had the chance of getting a week without any homework!!!
The last activity of the day was:
SURVIVAL!!!!!
We divided into teams of 4 and either got to do
Fishing, Fire or Shelter!
Bexy, Ashie, Mr Watson & I all did,
Shelter!
Our Shelter could fit Bexy & Ashie inside!!!
We Walked onto the bus and arrived back at camp just in time to get ready for:
DINNER!!!
I was starving!
I ate everything I could eat!
So then we all got ready for the:
TALENT SHOW!!!!!
Kirsten & I sang song that we made up about:
HORSES!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also sang a solo!
Take That - Rule the World!
Then we got ready for bed,
for a good night sleep!

THE END!!!!!!

Chris on Kalba

Hi guys!

I really enjoyed the trip. It was fantastic!! Everything was great fun.
Sadly the Tudor team didn’t get to do the wadi walk. I really wanted
to see some water scorpions!

Despite that I loved the Traverse. It was the best rock activity.
The kayaking on the next day was really good. You could race each
other and drive yourself, especially after canoeing were you were
three in a boat.

But the fun doesn’t end there. I won the most rounds in cricket and
twisted my ankle in sand boarding!
